wholesome content.
The first thing that comes to your mind is probably something with puppies, a cute Mother's Day video, a feel good movie, or something lighthearted.
wholesome.
Now what are you thinking? What makes someone feel wholesome? I found this such an interesting idea especially in today's day and age. Right now we're living through a pandemic that may be completely inflated or completely unpredictable, dealing with a presidential candidacy where people are saying "choose the lesser of two evils," and even dealing with a change in careers, a time where people feel stuck, genuinely stuck with no idea where to go because their options seem to be shrinking before their eyes.
It's time to dip your toes into many ponds. If there's any time to try as many things as possible, it's now. I don't care if you're 16, 25, 32, 45, or 60. Think about it, before the Corona Virus shut life down you were living your normal life and what did that consist of? You were most likely on a comfortable path towards something that you may have thought you needed, but never really wanted. Your days were probably filled working extremely hard for more hours than you should for someone else's benefit and getting rewarded for a fraction of the impact you were making. You know what's sad? that's what we expect life to be. We could never comprehend how fragile our lives are in the big picture of this universe. I mean, the Sun itself is moving forward every day and our planet moves around the Sun completely each year which means our planet is constantly moving EVERY DAY. So, why wouldn't you be?
In my opinion, we're not built to learn one skill, work one profession, or master one craft. That limits diversity in conversation, connection, the way we share stories, and how we build character. You become more wholesome the more you understand different people, the more different you are individually. If you like something, why not learn to like something else just as much. Change. Is. Not. Easy. "If it were in fact easy, everyone would do it." You probably won't stop hearing that. I'm not going to sit here and say I don't get caught up with the "keeping up with the Joneses" mentality because I do. I'm human, I get down on myself, I feel like I'm not doing enough, or fulfilling my life to the fullest just like the next person. This isn't taboo for me though. The amount of conversations I have EVERY day regarding where I'm at, what I want to achieve, and what I want to learn next is equal to the amount of conversations we should be having about sex, money, religion, and politics. Am I there yet? Absolutely not, but I'm glad that the conversations are happening.
What's the fulfillment in meeting a hundred people and talking to five of them? Never underestimate the amount of knowledge you can gain from someone else's perspective regardless of their "status". Whether you're the owner learning from the employee or the employee learning from the owner, the interest level should always be the same, that's inspiring. If you have any remote interest in something, go for it, learn it, hone the skills, and apply it. Sure, you'll mess up, who doesn't? You took the chance though, and that's already a win in my book.
